Chase the Lion

A few months ago I ordered Beth Moore's newest book So Long Insecurity. I'm about half way through it and I'm learning so much about myself. I don't think there is a single soul out there that doesn't have an insecurity in one shape or another.




I'll admit...I have a lot of them. I struggle with insecurity about being a good enough mom, artist, friend etc... If you know me well you know that I bring up my faults easily. It's a defense mechanism. I point them all out first, so you know that I know that I know them. Crazy huh??


Anyway I just came across this amazing quote that I saved months ago. When I read it again it really spoke to me, because this is how I want to live my life...fearless, no holding back, not afraid of making mistakes, not giving up without a fight, not worrying about what people think, enjoying every minute of every day...chasing those lions! Just wanted to share it with you:)

    I want to read that book so much in fact I am going to try to get it tomorrow. I hear so many good and eyeopening things about it. I too apologize for my faults before anyone else can and 9 times out of 10... they would not have been noticed if I did not point them out!

  4. Love this post -- and I have the same defense mechanism. I'll readily point things out before people get the chance to so that way I "save" myself from their ridicule and criticism.

    I think I'll order this book. It's been on my wishlist, but I think it's time to actually READ it! :)

  6. I so loved this post. This is exactly what I needed to read right now. I am still trying to deal with my Toxic Person so I needed reminding of who I am suppose to be doing things for, God not others. I think I might have to check out Beth's book also, you have really opened my eyes and I love the quit pointing out problems and be part of the solution!

As for my getting the hang of the techy stuff... the only reason my blogsite even looks decent is because you are the kindhearted person that you are, and gave me a helping hand:-) If not for you, it would still look pretty darn pitiful.   12. This made me think of the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when the children ask if Aslan is a tame lion and the beaver, incredulous, says "Tame?!" Of course he's not tame, but he's good. :)

  13. Oh Becky. Thank you for sharing these words. I think we all struggle with this from time to time. I certainly do!

    My pastor once told me "You can only do one of two things with your past.. You can learn from it OR you can repeat it." I have carried those words in my heart every day since.. now I will also carry yours. Thanks!;-)

  15. Right up my alley today!! Incredible quote! giggling a bit ~ because I point out my faults quickly too! I can't wait to find time to read that book... I hear it is wonderful! (of course it will probably summer if I am being honest with myself! ha ha!) Encouraging... and inspiring.. kinda reminds me of something... =) It applies to Seizing My Day... =)

  18. Inspiring post. Kudos. "Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution." - Now that's my problem! You've got some inspirational stuff here...regardless of what religion one belongs to. After all, lofty ideals know no religion or boundaries. Though, after reading your blog, I think I may be reading the wrong books...

    Thank you for the amazing post! We are VERY much alike. I feel as though I wear my insecurities on my sleeve. I struggle with the same things, about being a good mom to my two little girls, about being a good wife, friend and about the extra weight I never lost after my second daughter was born 8 months ago.
    I am definitely going to read this after I finish reading Calm My Anxious Heart.

  45. I just have to tell you that this is SO TRUE. Oh i think i´ve read this before, or maybe not be i´ve been trying to make my life better with a lot of the things mentioned above, you know what helped me, reading The Secret.

  46. Our pastor once told a story about a father praying with his small son at bedtime. His son asked him to pray for safety. Instead his father prayed, "Lord, make my son dangerous." Your post reminded me of that. Thanks.

  49. Brilliant! Why do we sometimes get paralyzed by our own insecurities? It's not easy retraining your brain to think confidently forward instead of getting stuck on perceived faults. Gonna have to get the book, you're the fourth person to mention it today! Wishing you sunshine!
